Coffee & Code
“Three hundred years ago, during the Age of Enlightenment, the coffee house became the center of innovation.
Back then, most people went from drinking beer to consuming coffee (i.e. from being tipsy to being wired) and ideas started exploding.”

“In my long career as a professional software engineer, the only thing that’s been more consistent than my mistrust of programming languages that aren’t strongly typed (looking at you JavaScript) has been my love of coffee.
From the days where a lack of sleep and my inexperience combine to leave me dependent on that glorious combination of sugar and caffeine, to enjoying the taste of a delicate and complex black coffee first thing in the morning or even that afternoon latte as an indulgent treat, coffee has been a constant companion when I code.
2020’s lockdown changed my relationship with coffee in a few ways, suddenly the free office coffee machine wasn’t accessible, coffee shops were closing and I was spending my days in my home office, and the capsule coffee machine wasn’t cutting it, so as many other people did, I took up a new hobby and decided to learn about my daily dose of caffeine.
From James Hoffman to Weiss Distribution Technique, I absorbed all I could, spoke to roasters, invested in new coffee machinery, intending to make a cup of coffee that genuinely tastes as good as it smells, and along that journey I realised as well documented the relationship between coders and coffee is there didn’t seem to be anyone truly embraced that relationship, so I set out to create <Code>Coffee, for those who appreciate that good code needs good coffee, and today you can enjoy the results of my endeavour with <Code>Coffee.
Will it improve your coding? Will bugs suddenly jump from the screen in obviousness? Will that Asynchronous monolith suddenly un-ravel itself into a CGI fractal? (OK, yes, 1995’s Hackers may have set me on the path to a career in programming)
Who knows, but it’ll be fun to try and find out while enjoying a great tasting coffee along the way!”
